La Bella Luna

La Bella Luna was in the words of one of our musician friends, “my best night out EVER!” With mandatory 1940’s costumes and music, a candle-lit meal, some of England’s finest singer-songwriters performing live and an art auction people were transported back to a 1940s era New York Italian Restaurant, complete with red chequered table cloths and home-made pasta sauce! The event raised £1000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer research.

Danielle Wilson, originally from the New York area, explained the motivation for this event:

‘Each member of our team has been touched by breast cancer in some way. In November 2003, I lost someone important to me after her 6 year battle with breast cancer -- a beautiful Italian-American woman named Liz Vecchione. Growing up, Liz was my mom’s best friend and I really looked up to her. Other girls wanted to be like pop stars or actresses. I wanted to be like Liz and copied her in every way I could! Liz was hysterically funny and she loved to laugh, eat and have fun with friends and family. Hopefully, La Bella Luna was a fitting tribute to her as we raised money to help find a cure for this horrendous disease.
