Gravity

For 10 months, a team of Christians from several local churches and organizations had been meeting to devise a way to provide a spiritual lifejacket to kids on the fringe of society. As youth workers, it was tough connecting with the teenagers in Kings Heath who didn't go to school.

The goal of Gravity was to give these kids a place where they could wrestle with spiritual matters on a regular basis, in an environment that made sense to them.
We provided a games console, open decks for djs and an 'Encounter God' space at a local café. The missing ingredient was deep day-to-day friendships with these kids once we'd met them. After a month the project ground to a halt. We'd created a theoretically great thing; it simply wasn't where the kids were at.
