Zang is proud to announce the release of the Sacred EP on 6th December 2010 – a collection of unusually heartfelt covers and remakes of the song Sacred by The Custodians.
The song Sacred has become something of a Zang anthem since it emerged on Joel the Custodian%u02BCs second album, My Organs are Yours (2008). The sound, the sentiment and the sincerity of the song has steadily permeated the collective and in late 2010 a handful of Zang artists got to work on a string of different remixes and covers.
Greybeard contributes the remix that started it all. Fiction Fight who helped produce the original bring the electronica and the soaring guitars. There is a typically violent sounding remix from Benjamin Blower. Selina Blakeney and Greybeard combine and reinvent the song completely. The Army of the Broken Hearted do their signature tin can dirge of a version, and University of the King came together for the first time in some years to put together their Sergio Leone inspired interpretation.
...And all this in secret! Joel the Custodian had no knowledge of the project. Whilst the legalities might be a bit dubious Zang is now releasing the Sacred EP as a tribute to a Zang veteran, an inspired artist, and to a song that continues to resound deeply with its hearers.
