PRESS RELEASE

Zang Productions is proud to announce the release of The Ache & Answer on the 16th of August 2010. It’s the debut album from singer/songwriter Josiah Gillespie.

The first single ‘Say Anything’ will be released on the 30th August and is the perfect introduction to the record – warm, honest and spiritually awake.

Gillespie headed to the quiet depths of the Welsh countryside to record these songs and ended up with post-surf beach-fire anthems, brooding diary entry ballads and uninhibited explosions of joyful, soulful folk. Spiritualized could cover a song or two here, so could Ryan Adams.

Josiah has fashioned a patchwork of memories, tender and unselfconscious. He urges the listener to be enveloped in a sonic bear hug, but also exposes a seam of hurt on tracks like 70x7 and Between the Lines. Throughout the album the revelations that emerge are clearly hard-won giving the Ache & Answer its backbone and replayability.

A new age of lyrical sincerity is here and like getting caught in the ocean’s undertow, it’s invigorating and unexpected.
